Who Are The Varmints?
Who are the Varmints?
They are six highly intelligent animals who live by a phrase that was cooked-up by a wonderfully inquisitive human who believed in exploring every aspect of the world around us. His name? Sir Francis Bacon (no pig or breakfast jokes please). His immortal phrase? Nam et ipsa scientia postestas est. You don’t speak Latin, eh? Well simply translated it means Knowledge is Power.
You see, with the Varmints, the appetite grows with the eating. The more they learn the more they want to learn. But rather than just becoming bloated receptors of information, these animals have an equally strong drive to share the wonderful knowledge they collect.
If you take a quick scan of the blog entries or Bytes, as we like to call them, these unorthodox educationalists love to use humor to present information on a wild range of subjects. Sometimes you can’t tell if they want to be educators or entertainers. The Bytes are short in order to get the reader wanting more. And to insure they find it each entry ends with a list of books to do follow up research.
Ultimately the Varmints seek to light the flame of exploration in the hearts of a young learners. They think of Bytes as the tiny comic sparks that, if tended well, can grow into a roaring wildfire of investigation. (Too many fire allusions? Sorry.) To learn more about the individual team members go to their pages where they introduce themselves.
